I would think long and hard about it before coming to Cooley, and if you decide to go, start out slow - take 9 credit hours to start and then ramp up during your 2nd terms and beyond. First term can be a little... weird... wouldn't hurt to pace yourself.
Knowing what I know now - I would NOT have gone to Cooley. The experience has ultimately been a very valuable one, but the school was a bad fit for my situation (I have a family, and rigid attendance policies made commuting 2400 miles difficult if not impossible).
You mention that you are paying full tuition. This probably means that your LSAT was low. It just so happens that some of the "A" students in my section had LSAT's below 144 and a few are even moving on to T1 schools.
Cooley has horrific rates of attrition - about equal to its acceptance rate.
Do your research so that you go into Cooley with open eyes. Don't have any illusions about it.
Sorry to hear your experience was not the greatest majga. Non-trad. Students receive the same sort of treatment at most schools. Rutgers is a hell hole for people who have to keep their family relationships healthful while attending law school.
I would suggest to the author of the post that he/she not listen too much to the negative feedback about Cooley from those who don’t go there. I cannot say whether the school is a good fit for you or not, no one can until they’ve actually experienced it. But do not think that things are better at other law schools (except for Yale, where they don’t grade you). Whether you go to Cooley or anywhere else, you will have to work your butt off. If your intent is to be a lawyer, then go ahead and attend Cooley is your only choice, then go there. Just know that it won’t be easy.
